Microwave Chocolate Banana Mug Cake - Weight Watchers Friendly (2)

Whether you are following the Weight Watchers program or simply looking for a flourless, gluten-free and quick chocolate fix, the best part is... this cake is unbelievably delicious! And it's only 2 WW points on my personal plan, made with real and natural ingredients and without any artificial sweetener! Considering a piece of store bought chocolate cake with icing is 25 points, I'm all about this option!

🥘Ingredients

This cake is also super moist, fudgy, rich and filling. And you really can't even taste the banana. I love that I always have these ingredients for this banana and egg mug cake on hand as well. If I have a craving for chocolate, I can quickly whip this up in no time.

You only need a few simple ingredients for flourless, low calorie mug cake (and you don't need chocolate chips! ):

  • banana (should be ripe, but you can use overripe)
  • unsweetened cocoapowder
  • egg
  • almond extract
  • agave (you can substitute honey)
  • light whipped cream (optional)

*See recipe card for quantities

📖 Variations and Substitutions

  • Agave: you can use a good honey (preferably liquid) if you don't have agave, but you'll need double the amount
  • Whipped cream - you can use there real light whipped cream (spray bottle) or use fat-free Cool Whip, if you prefer
  • Almond extract - you can use vanilla extract if you don't have almond extract

🔪Instructions

Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Spray an 8-10 oz microwave safe mug with non stick cooking spray.
  2. Mash banana with a fork. *I like to do this in a small bowl, then pour into the mug (it's less messy)
  3. Whisk remaining ingredients together with mashed banana.
  4. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour into prepared mug.
  6. Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds (cooking time may vary depending on the wattage of your microwave).

🍽Equipment

You can use any type ofmicrowave-safe mugfor this easy microwave chocolate cake.

👪 Serving Size

Sometimes 1 is all you need and obviously, this mug cake for one, serves only 1. But it's the perfect size and makes one whole cake. However, you can easily adjust the recipe to serve as many as you need. Simply click on theblueserving size, choose the numbers of servings you'd like, and the amounts will adjust accordingly. I'd still recommend making them in separate mugs.

  • If you don't want to eat it out of the mug, just switch to a bowl, which is also great for sharing. My daughter and I shared this dessert and it was more than satisfying!
  • I have also used a very large mug, doubled the recipe and put some aside for a couple of days later.
  • Or make it in a large mug and share it between the whole family! My kids love this fluffy cake! And it makes the perfect individual little cake!

🔢WW Points

This Healthy Chocolate Mug Cake is only 2 WW points and will satisfy any sweet craving!

💭 Top Tip

Whipped Cream: *I also use a little of the light real whipped cream (in a spray bottle) because it's only 1 point for 4 tablespoon of this whipped cream and I love whipped cream! There are a couple of different brands you can buy that are only 1 point. Dairyland and Gay Lea are both brands that are WW friendly!
