Ingredients additions

Cookies and milk is enough. If you want something extra, add chocolate chips (white or dark) to the mug cake batter.

For fluffier mug cake, use ¼ teaspoon baking powder when you add milk. Baking powder helps in making the cake fluffy and rise.

Add a splash of vanilla extract to make it better.

How to make Oreo mug cake?

  1. Use microwave safe mug that is big enough to cook the cake. Grease it with oil (optional step) and set aside.
  2. I used mini packs which have 5 Oreo cookies. Smash cookies in the packet. No extra bowl or whisk needed. Less clean up. Jo’s Tip: smash Oreos as fine as possible (almost like flour) so the cake comes out nice and smooth.
  3. Add hot milk. Note: I used a pack of 5 cookies, I added 1 tablespoon extra milk. Important: it’s easy to whisk smooth batter with hot milk even if Oreos is not crushed/smacked fine enough.
  4. Mix well until batter is nice and smooth and no crumbs of are left behind.
  5. Microwave the mug cake on high power for 1 minute. If cake is not set, cook for 10 seconds increments after the first minute until it’s done (cake should be set). DO NOT OVER COOK mug cake. It’ll turn rubbery.
  6. Cool for 2 to 4 minutes before serving. It’ll be very hot.
  7. Serve mug cake as it is. I like it with whipped cream topping and few crushed Oreo pieces. You can use vanilla ice cream.

  1. Sandy says

Hi! Can I ask why the milk needs to be hot? Is it just to help get a smooth batter? And did you microwave your milk to heat it? If so, how long did you microwave it?
    Thanks!

Yes that’s right Sandy. Hot milk helps in getting smooth batter. I microwave milk for 30-45 seconds on high power (time will vary depending on the size of mug you use and ofcourse your microwave too).
